UETF 2023 – Welcome

After two pandemic-driven cancellations, Société française des traducteurs (SFT) is delighted to confirm that its 10th Summer School for Financial Translation[1] will take place on July 17-19 in Luxembourg. Our host this year is the European Investment Bank—an exceptional partner by any measure.

UETF is designed especially for translators and interpreters who specialize in finance and business, and who work with French and English.

Held every two years, it features:

  • talks by specialists from the world of finance and by top-tier translators, followed by Q&A to expand knowledge of the big picture and the details. There is no better way to acquire and fine-tune expertise in fundamental concepts, recent developments and hot topics for the future,
  • a hands-on workshop per language pair for practical experience, plus two translation slams,
  • networking with fellow translators and experts to share ideas and strategies—plus upcoming projects, news of teams in search of talent, and more,
  • for students and academics: a chance to observe translators at the premium end of the market first-hand—and, very possibly, adjust your take on what a career in professional translation can be.

An impressive line-up of outstanding speakers has signed on, and you'll find the full program here.

We look forward to seeing our regular attendees from past sessions in Paris and Brussels back for more in Luxembourg, and are eager to welcome newcomers, too.

Interested in financial translation? UETF is in a class of its own for its focus on genuine specialization and the quality of its speakers and participants. Join us in July, and do pass the word on to your friends and colleagues.

À très bientôt,

Chris Durban & Dominique Jonkers
